What is the Canada eTA?

The Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is a mandatory document for all citizens of visa-exempt countries traveling to Canada for short-term stays related to tourism, transit or business visitor activities.

Introduced to enhance border security, the eTA is linked electronically to the traveler’s passport. It remains valid for 5 years or until the attached passport expires, whichever comes first.

Applying for an eTA is a straightforward process: it does not require any embassy visits, everything is done 100% online and you can get the approved document in just two days.

  • Multiple entries: yes
  • Validity: 5 years
  • Maximum visit (per stay): 180 days
  • Processing time: 48 hours
