Currently, most travelers can enter Thailand visa-free thanks to an exemption scheme covering 93 countries, including the US, the UK, most of the EU, Australia and Canada. This exemption allows a stay of up to 90 or 60 days depending on the nationality. Travelers planning a longer visit, or those whose purpose goes beyond short tourism, can apply for the Thailand eVisa online before departure. There are many kinds available depending on the purpose of the trip.
In 2026, Thailand's government approved a change to its exemption policy that will shorten the allowed visa-free stay to 30 days for most nationalities (and 15 days for a smaller group), but this is not in effect yet and there is no confirmed date for when it will. Until then, the current 60-day exemption still applies at the border, and anyone who enters before the change kicks in keeps their full stay.
