Yes. The Tourist ETA can be extended up to a maximum total stay of 270 days, in three stages: an additional 60 days, then 90 days, then a further 90 days. Extensions are processed through the Department of Immigration.

Yes, children of any age need their own ETA.

Both are ETAs with a 30-day initial stay, but they cover different purposes. The Tourist ETA is for leisure, sightseeing, family visits, and medical treatment. The Business ETA is required for professional activities such as meetings, conferences, negotiations, or trade events. Nationals planning short business trips to Sri Lanka must get a Business ETA.

It is strongly not recommended. Immigration officers routinely ask for proof of onward or return travel as a condition of entry. Arriving with only a one-way ticket is likely to cause complications at immigration. Always have a confirmed return or onward ticket accessible when you travel.
