Laos visa policy & requirements
Most visitors to Laos must obtain a visa, unless they are citizens of one of the exempt countries. For everyone else, there are two main options: the eVisa, which you apply for online before you travel, or a visa on arrival, available at major airports and land border crossings. Both cover one stay of up to 30 days.
A few nationalities are not eligible for either the eVisa or the visa on arrival and must obtain a visa through a Laotian embassy or consulate before traveling.
Additionally, from September 1, 2025, all travelers entering or leaving Laos must complete a digital arrival and departure form online before crossing the border. Make sure you complete this within 3 days of your planned arrival date.
