Australia visa policy & requirements
Foreign citizens need to obtain authorization before traveling to Australia, except for New Zealand passport holders. For short stays, all other nationalities must apply for a visa or an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA).
If traveling for tourism or short business visits, eligible nationalities can apply for the eVisitor (subclass 651), available for citizens of the EU and the UK, among others. Other countries may be eligible for the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA). These visas grant the same access: multiple entries of up to 90 days in a 1-year period.
However, if your nationality is not eligible for the eVisitor or ETA, then you have to apply for the Australia Visitor visa (subclass 600). Unlike the eVisitor and ETA, the Visitor visa requires the submission of supporting documentation. While it is possible to apply online, processing times are longer.
