Kenya visa policy & requirements
Kenya replaced its traditional visa system with an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) on January 1, 2024. Most travelers now apply for an eTA online before their trip instead of going through a standard visa process, with the notable exception of most African nations.
The eTA covers short stays for tourism of up to 90 days and is valid for a single entry. You can start your application up to 90 days before departure, but make sure to submit it at least 3 days in advance. Once approved, you simply present your eTA and passport at immigration on arrival.
One thing to keep in mind: there are no eTAs issued on arrival. Your authorization must be confirmed before you board. We recommend applying as soon as your flights and accommodation are confirmed to avoid any last-minute issues.
On arrival, standard entry rules apply. You will need to show a valid passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity, proof of onward travel, and a yellow fever vaccination certificate if you are arriving from an endemic region.
