What is UK ETA
The UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) is a new entry requirement introduced by the United Kingdom for travelers who do not need a visa to visit the UK, including U.S. and European citizens. This digital permit is designed to enhance border security and streamline entry processes.
While U.S. and European citizens previously could enter the UK visa-free for short stays, the ETA replaces this system by requiring an online application prior to travel. The ETA is not a visa, but a pre-screening mechanism similar to the U.S. ESTA program. It grants permission to board a carrier to the UK.
